Bubble Gum Stuck on My Shoe
Bubble Gum Stuck On My Shoe is a publication curated by Atelier Tatanka, reworking and reinterpreting the photographic project by artist Carolina Pimenta. The project reveals a side of Mexico that emerges from the streets: a landscape made of stacked chairs, patched walls, and makeshift solutions which, taken together, become testimonies of everyday ingenuity — fleeting signs of how urban spaces are constantly adapted to people’s needs.

The photographic project was born on the streets of Mexico City, from the desire to capture and chase those silent inventions. Each image is like a fragment caught on the fly — something you notice out of the corner of your eye and that keeps spinning in your mind long after.
However, when the original project was ready to be given back to the city, with the photographs pasted across the neighborhoods of Juárez, Condesa, Roma, and Polanco, everything suddenly faded away.
It’s the risk of a system that lives off patrons and sponsors: a project is alive one moment, stalled the next.
But if Mexico teaches anything, it’s that there is always another way.So the project first came to life online, spreading through feeds and stories — shared by those who kept searching for the posters along the city streets, convinced they could still find them. And now it is here, in a new metamorphosis, enclosed within the pages of this book: an object that gathers all those passages — from chance encounters on the street, to digital appearances, to these prints.
Proof that ideas know how to move, reinvent themselves, and find new spaces, even when the path seems to disappear.

The editorial project Bubble Gum Stuck On My Shoe was presented for the first time on the occasion of Riso Talks, an event hosted at Atelier Tatanka space in Bologna.
Riso Talks is a moment of encounter and exchange dedicated to printing and research in the field of risograph. The event, structured in two sessions, presented the main outcomes of the research project carried out by Atelier Tatanka over the past year — including insights into the printing technique, image processing, color separation, and language — alongside the launch of the latest publications and tools developed as part of the same project.
The project was funded by the European Union, Next Generation EU, as part of the PNRR, TOCC (Transizione Digitale Organismi Culturali e Creativi).
